No. It has to do with the percentage of the calories in the diet, the increase in numbers of meals and snacking events, the decrease in fasting hours between the meal and snacking events, and resulting chromic elevation of insulin levels causing insulin resistance. The insulin resistance then became a vicious cycle causing irreversible weight gain over time as a consequence of the increasing needs for insulin. Without the daily fasting periods and additional fastings needed to break the cycle of elevated insulin levels, the metabolism develops insulin resistance that leads to the metabolic syndrome, unstoppable weight gain, and diabetes.
