As a young ER doctor, Peter Attia felt contempt for a patient with diabetes. She was overweight, he thought, and thus responsible for the fact that she needed a foot amputation.


This attitude in the medical profession has no place. It is the opposite of compassion and healing. Patients can feel the hate. It pisses me off because it assumes Mr. doctor is perfect and above his imperfect patients. If I were not a Christian, I would say “I hope Attia gets diabetes and a doctor who hates him for it.” But I won’t say that.
