8700 baud (1988-89 CompuServe BBS), receiver in the cradle, was a lot of fun.

Still can memorize that cranking buzzing sound to this date. Used to piss my wife off keeping the phone tied up. Friends and family swore we kept the phone off the hook. :)

Heck, back then you could paint the house, go to college, get married and have a family, retire, have grandchildren and then check the connection, and it probably worked. The Good Old Days...
