Actually, yes.

Van Allen radiation belt

Apparently he inner Van Allen belt contains mostly protons and the outer belt has electrons (beta radiation).

The Van Allen belt or the one caused when we exploded a nuke in outer space? The Van Allen belt caught fire in VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA.
