That's been the mystery I've had on my mind since reading Edgar Cayce's prophecies in my early teenage days back in the early 70s.
I also read, but didn't really understand at that age, John White's book Pole Shift and Immanuel Velikovsky's material. I believed it then and haven't forgotten it.
So, fast forward to now and I've been reading A True Life In God, which more or less makes one also study the Bible, which brings me to Revelation/Apocalypse 6:14:
And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. That description sounds exactly like what one would see and experience during the sort of Pole Shift event Cayce spoke of during his trances and John White discusses in his book.
As a "For what it's worth", here's some food for thought:

Edgar Cayce was indeed a prophet, but he is what the Bible calls a “false prophet”. The Biblical standard for prophesy is 100% correct or they are not “from God”. Deuteronomy 13 and 18 make this clear. The Bible prophets on the other hand, were 100% accurate. That is why I can proclaim some of the things I do with confidence. While Cayce made prophetic announcement that may have come to pass, because he was not 100% accurate, the Bible says that his “source” of prophetic vision was not God, but rather the Angelic/Demonic realm, or what Moses called “familiar spirits”.
