Today is voting day for Governor and other high elected offices in Kentucky.
I went to my local voting place after it had been open two hours already. Sad to say I was only the third person to vote so far.
Mind you we are rural and most of us are still working to bring in the harvest but still...
With Texas early voting, I never wait to election day to vote.
Better than having hundreds of people who clearly don’t live in your precinct voting...
Mayor and council elections only for us this year.
Waiting until this afternoon to go.
Indianapolis is likely screwed, the Dem is probably going to win in a walk.
This is sad, but it’s early yet. I hope Bevin wins the governorship. But, of course, there is a 3rd party candidate in the race to ruin things for him.
Hopefully quality wins through instead of quantity.
If it is true that low voter turn out is good for the Republicans, it must mean that it is a more legitimate voting pool, composed of those who are actually eligible to vote. Bevin may well get to pull off an unencumbered victory. Hang in there, friend.
You’re not as likely to have democrats busing a lot of riff-raff to the polls during odd year elections.
I don’t live in KY, but have lots of friends and relatives who do. I did my part by posting Bevin ads on fb for their pleasure and enjoyment! LOL I would love to see KY have a R governor for a change - they’ve only had one twice that I know of. And they wonder why they don’t go to the head of the class? I know there are a lot of poor people in KY, who probably exist on freebies and are scared a R will take them away from them.
Your urban “protected classes” are less likely to vote because they would have to get up and stumble out of the crib....so you got that going for you.
No elections for me this time around.
Husband just got home and passed about 5 polling places. Only people around were the guys who stand outside passing out candidate info.
Indianapolis has been screwed for the past 8 years when they had ‘republican’ mayor that did essentially everything to run as a democrat.
Sounds like the Boehner-Ryan-McC cabal is already in charge of Indianapolis. What would Benjamin Harrison think?
Few would be more surprised than I were Bevin to win the race.
” I know there are a lot of poor people in KY, who probably exist on freebies and are scared a R will take them away from them.”.
You bring a good point. Republicans are terrible at educating. Their problem is that in the last 50 years they are entirely out of the business of education. We are paying the price, top to bottom.
Trump needs to hit education as hard as any other issue, or it will never really matter who is president. (My tagline probably works here. sigh.)
Too bad it's not a recall election for Mitch "0bama's Bitch" McConnell.
I live in central ky. Voting after work. Enjoying lunch on Baxter right now...
Low turnout good for republicans.
It’s election day here in VA as well. As my tagline indicates I won’t be bothering to show. Not to worry, the uniparty shills running in my district are so similar that you’d be hard pressed to identify any differences.
In any case, one clever thing that one of our state gun rights groups (PAC)is doing is trying to elect a nonpartisan slate at the county board of supervisors level. The reason is that counties and cities determine the cost and timing of issuance of concealed handgun permits. What this slate wants to do is issue them for free, on the spot. Or about as close as you can get to Constitutional Carry as possible without the involvement of the damn fool VA General Assembly. Or our worse governor.
Clever use of an election to accomplish something tangible and useful. A rarity, so I wanted to note it.
