Mike Royko !
Having spent most of my life in suburban Chicongo, I remember him well!
Near the end he said something unacceptable about one of the protected classes; then he was gone.

I was living in Boston (born and reared) and The Globe carried Art Buchwald but somewhere along the line I read a lot of Royko ... it might have been in Wheeling
Maybe the Globe carried them both ... but I doubt it.
I'll go see if I can find out

FUGEDABOUDIT !
"Royko's columns were syndicated country-wide in more than 600 newspapers. He produced more than 7,500 columns in a four-decade career. He also wrote or compiled dozens of "That's Outrageous!" columns for Reader's Digest."

In 1971 Royko wrote a biography of Chicago mayor Richard Daley called “Boss.” It was excellent.
