Look at the data. I was looking for info on the Deccan Traps when I found this theory, makes a lot of sense when you look at extent of the extinctions on the K/T boundary.

The dinosaurs might have been in decline due to the long term affect of the Deccan Traps and were finished of by the asteroid? It does sound quite possible.
