The environmental impact of the Russian and Deccan Traps were massive in comparison with today's minor increase in CO2.

"There are additional environmental effects associated with LIP deposition, Ernst reports. "Effects associated with LIPs also include oceanic anoxia (massive marine organism die off due to oxygen deficiency), sea level changes, etc." The sheer size of an LIP is not the only factor. "Also contributing to climatic/extinction effects are the abundance of LIP-produced pyroclastic material and volatile fluxes that reach the stratosphere, and in particular the role of super-eruptions."

Large Igneous Province would be a good name for a punk rock band...

Don't forget gases flowing and erupting naturally from the Russian permafrost .
How does one control those ?

People like to say our earth’s temp. is duke to the Sun but I suspect it is molten iron and fusion at the core, more likelely.

These “scientist” use the term positive feedback without the slightest understanding of positive feedback and its associated effects. Taken to the extreme it is like the butterfly effect. Should we kill all of the butterflies to prevent a hurricane? I don’t know but I am scared to move because if I shake the ground I may cause an earthquake.

Hats off to the Societe de Calcul mathematique SA.

Doesn’t radon gas come from igneous rock? As opposed to sedimentary and metamorphic rock?

If you look at the data you could come to the conclusion that the K/T extinctions where due to a double hit in Mexico and where India was, Shiva hit.
