“will allow police to detain resisting suspects with less risk of injury for those being arrested. “
BS. They are lethal striking weapons.
Some idiot cop thinks a bit too much of his martial arts classes.

Did anybody stop to ask this fool cop just how his statement is true?
“The Anderson Police Department is implementing the police nunchaku as a tool to more effectively arrest, control, and subdue non-compliant suspects,” Chief Michael Johnson told NBC News. “The nunchaku can be deployed to more compassionately gain compliance from a suspect through pain application opposed to striking, as customary with the side-handled or straight baton.”

Oh look. Here's Sgt. Casey Day showing how to effectively use those nunchucks.

Officer Napoleon Dynamite told reporters, “Chicks dig cops with skills like nunchuck skills, bow hunting skills, etc. We are getting bows next.”

Is there some new definition of nunchucks about which I am unaware.
And just how many cops are going to injure themselves?
To: CodeToad
First I have broken cinder blocks with my chucks ... so they can be pretty deadly. Second untrained users can hurt themselves fairly easily with them. Also those who are trained know that the sting tied ones are better than chain tied ... if only to save arm hair

And just how many cops are going to injure themselves? Decades ago I spent a lot of time learning to use Nunchucks. I had the same thought.
My most memorable experience with Nunchucks was nearly knocking myself conscious and resulting tunnel vision.

They should start with the foam coated version to gain muscle memory type co-ordination. Guaranteed for a novice to “eat” one in short order.

I still have nerve damage to my left elbow from 30 years ago. Whacked my funny bone so hard that it has never recovered.
