Employees in District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowsers Office of Community Affairs are apparently required to stand every time the mayor enters the room.
Staff members in the office were ordered to stand up and greet Bowser when she entered the room for a meeting, according to an email obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation via the D.C. governments Freedom of Information Act online reading room.
In the email dated Feb. 5, Bowsers director of community affairs, Charon P.W. Hines directs Bernedia Long, an employee of the agency, to make sure all staff members stood up when they saw Bowser.

And ladies always say thank you when a gentleman holds a door for us.....I always do. And thank you for being a considerate gentleman.
Ive had women get pissed at me for holding the door.
If theyre working for this person already, they probably willingly go along with this rule.
Beat me to it.
Yeah, that’s happened to me a time or two. Times they are a changin’ eh?
Politicians are supposed to be serving the public. Nowadays they seem to think they are our betters.
“Staff members in the office were “ORDERED” to stand up and greet Bowser when she entered the room for a meeting”
the ordered part kinda bugged me, and was an email really necessary?
Nice touch. Maybe I'll try that here at home. ;-)
The mayor probably got the idea from Cong. Sheila Jackson Lee (”I am a queen and I expect to be treated like a queen!!!”
D.C. employees deserve what they get.
They helped create the monster.
And it’s always the women. I’ll bet this broad’s never tipped in a restaurant either. She’s the Queen.
uppity democrat female politicians? one thinks that’s bad, wait until the Hag gets into the WH
This is just city hall, the representatives of the voters. This is arrogant and privilege taken too far. One doesn't snap to attention when a representative or senator enters a room. Why so with just a mayor?
servant.
.
Liberal entitlement mentality, arrogance on parade.
IOW, everyone must stop doing their job when the queen enters. That should make for a brilliant ad for her opponents in the next election.
I’ve had some woman get miffed at me as well. Several years ago, I even got a lecture. However, more recently they show appreciation and usually say thanks. A polite society makes for a more relaxed atmosphere and things are more easily done.
No, a respectful bow accompanied by grasping one's forelock will suffice.
When leaving The Presence, one should back out of the room, NEVER turning one's back toward Her Excellency.
As soon as she reads this is what the so called patriarchal society used to do, it will be deemed microagression and will have to be stopped. The liberal thoughts now entering my brain are now telling me isn’t standing for anyone in authority microaggression by the one in authority?? Oh what a mixed up world we live in.
