I’d bet it *does* come from China. It bears no resemblance to a real mocajete.
Wondering at this point if Columba is a real Mexican mujere or she just plays one on tv. $75- LOL there’s a sucker born every minute. I inherited mine from my grandmother, but c. 1974, they were maybe $5.

(ps I’ve never known anyone who made guacamole in a mocajete. They are very rough granite & it would be a serious mess. They’re for grinding corn into masa.)

I have a real one that was given to me by a Mexican friend that owns a restaurant. You’re right, I would never make guacamole in it.
The plastic ones like Jeb’s can be found at the dollar store once in awhile. I use my plastic ones for salsa.
