I suspect it would be interesting to compare attempts at killing by gender (whether successful or not) against killing by gender.
I wouldn't be surprised if women attempted to kill more often, but ended up lacking competence, strength or sufficient planning to finish the job.

Knowlingly false accusations of rape or pedophilia should be a factor as well. Sometimes you don’t want your victim to die when you take their life.
