Not true. I've seen 10 footers fishing off barn kelp in San Clemente. El Nino is happening though. Last summer we were catching dorado off Oceanside. Even wahoo off san diego were reported.

It is true. Your anecdotal evidence isn't equaled by my 37 years in the marine sciences field - specifically in Southern California.
