Aside from being a stupid undertaking, I don't think there's a serious medical risk here. Stomachs don't just "burst." Your body's gag reflex will force you to throw up when the stomach reaches its capacity - which for most people, is about the volume of food you can fit into a gallon jug of milk. Obviously the "professional" binge eaters have conditioned their stomachs to fit more.

I'm going out on a limb and saying 30 pounds of food in one sitting is an impossibility. I assume the owner of this restaurant will have barf bags ready for anybody who tries, as this will be the end result.

I remember reading some years back of a woman who did rupture her stomach as a result of eating some 18 pounds of food. I don’t have the book any more, so can’t provide a reference.

I agree that most people would not be able to do such a thing.
