I asked Rick Ector about how rare it was to see a single round defensive shooting. He says its very rare from what he’s seen.
Attacks are almost always a surprise and at very close range. There is no time for taking careful aim and making a single disarming shot.
Amen. Protecting the flock with a Glock.
No. A brick is a deadly weapon that could easily cause serious injury or even death. It was clearly being wielded as a weapon, per the report.
I suppose you think the pastor should have shot the brick out of the deranged man’s hands?
Anything worth doing, is worth doing right.
No. A brick is deadly force.
Thank you very much. There were several soldiers in Bosnia who were hit by flying bricks and boards and much damage was done to them. Anything can be used to kill if you put enough thought and muscle behind it.
NO! When your efforts “have gone south” it is time for Glock to speak. AMEN
Have you already forgotten what happened in the church in South Carolina? This minister hasn’t....
In this case the glock is a justice dispensing brick.
A.a.menn!
Pastor was aware of the attacker's mental state to the point where he felt it necessary to be armed in church.
When it comes to, "What did he know and when did he know it?" the pastor was concerned enough to defend his flock.
And thank God he was. And thank the 2nd Amendment he was permitted to do so.
5 rules of a gun fight:
1) gun beats no gun - do not leave it at home
2) fast beats slow - he who shots first, often shoots last
3) a hit beats a miss - a .22 that hits beats a .44 that misses
4) big holes beat little holes - given the 3 rules above, larger calibers beat small calibers
5) Many holes beat one hole - If one shot is good, then two is better.
I am of the opinion that there is no such thing as over kill
How about elderly?
I was bashed in the back of the head with a bottle, knocked out and then fell into a curb. It resulted in a severe concussion, broken tooth, cracked rib and 6 stitches to close the head wound. I got lucky.
I am 50, 6 foot and 200 lbs, trained in the martial arts and recover fairly well from injuries. I brick (rock) is known to break bones and crack skulls for even healthy adults. Kids and elderly can easily suffer broken bones, or even be killed.
Overkill? Not in my opinion. A deadly weapon is a deadly weapon, be it rock, brick, stick, pipe, knife or gun.
Personally I think a concealed carry permit should be automatic for anyone over 50 years old simply because we aren’t as young as we used to be and thugs know it and are more likely to target us.
That said, I really don’t think there should be any restrictions on guns nor any permit required.
Mozambique drill, two to the center of mass then one to the CNS ( neck or head shot) practice this with rapid draw from your concealment holster till it is muscle memory and automatic when you draw the weapon. If my weapon comes out It is going off at least three times on auto pilot my body just knows that’s what happens when you draw the weapon
It always cracks me up when people worry about how many rounds were fired or that there was no attempt to wound rather than kill.
Referring to Rick Ector again, “If you’re shooting to wound, its probably not a justifiable shooting”.
G1!
Reasons for multiple shots fired:
-Heat of the moment and threat won’t go down.
-Related: No mention of which Glock; could be the new .380
-Related: No mention of whether using hollow point, which creates a bigger wound channel and more shock, or ball ammo.
Not overkill in my opinion. The man could have killed or maimed someone in a one second crash of the brick to a head.
