I am gradually hunting them all down, right now I own I think 26 versions of this tune.
Don't know for sure why it means so much to me, but I can listen to this song a thousand times and not get tired.
I read that as “Tainted Love” and was shocked to read there were so many versions!
Then I re-read it.
“Oh, Faded Love.”
Willie Nelson.
Wait, no, that’s “Crazy Arms.”
Emmy Lou Harris?
And why she and Merle Haggard have not done a duet on “Today I Started Loving You Again,” well, that my favorite mystery of all.
Ha! See post 41.
I got to watch part of the second day of this session when it was recorded in Dallas -- "For The Last Time".
Bob fell into a coma on the first day, sending him back home to Fort Worth and cutting short the session. You'll recall, he never recovered and died shortly thereafter.
Merle Haggard drove overnight from Chicago to be there or this session and participated -- uncredited -- with some vocals and mandolin work.
I got to watch about an hour's worth from the recording booth. It was an experience I'll never forget.
Milkcow Blues -- Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys, For The last Time
For me...Patsy Cline.
I do love her style of singing...:)
Bob wills 1950 version.
I wish I could help, but I avoid Austin as much as possible, too many libs and wayyy too brutal on traffic.
Maybe one of the locals from down there will pitch in some good advice.
Hey, check this stuff out. I posted up in the Texas board for guidance in your sensitive quest LOL, and these are the responses I got. These peeps know all this sorta stuff:

Head on over to Gruene Hall in New Braunfels.
Leon McAuliffe certainly has a way that can compete with any of ‘em, even the gals. Fo sho!
See if you can find Don Rich and the Buckaroos. Schveet!
Melted you too, eh :)
Beautifuller words have never been spoke.
And thank you for bringing my feet back to the ground. I was getting out there.
Thanks my good man. I will definitely check these out! I just took in a phenomenal show by Asleep at the Wheel and the Quebe Sisters a few months back here in Bloomington, Illinois, and am chomping at the bit for more - as you can imagine, we don’t get too much of it up here.
Great thread, by the way. I love country and western swing both, and glad to know other freepers feel the same.
Thanks for the mention of The Flying Burrito Brothers... a fav group from way back... the rest I can’t comment on. I don’t know “Faded Love” ...least not the from the artists named... just from personal experience.
With Leon McAuliffe hisself...
