I'll start it off in no certain order:
"Here's looking at you kid." Casablanca
"Make my day". Dirty Harry
"You had me at hello." Jerry Mcquire
"You make me complete." Jerry Mcguire
"We were on a break!" Friends
"Norm!" Cheers
"To the moon, Alice." The Honeymooners
Yes, at least ONE until tonight.
Wait, wait, did you see Clark Gable in real life?
Play it again, Sam.
Rick Blaine, Casablanca.
...
Never actually said in the movie.
“I got a fever and the only cure is, MORE COWBELL”
Yes, that is a good one, but did Meredith really say it first?
Oh here is one: “It takes two to tango”
I actually heard the writer of that song interviewed on the radio. I’ve heard the song, and I guess it might have been a hit, before my time and I haven’t heard it in years, but everyone still says that.
Badges? Badges!? We don't need no stinkin badges!
LOL, thought of that too the other day, but at least I know why.
I was listening to the jazz station WBGO out of Newark, NJ and they were playing some tune with A LOT of cowbell.
It is a great sound, that cannot be denied.
I Love Lucy was ground-breaking with its studio audience and 3 cameras in the early days of television, not to mention the writing for the characters. It still plays around the world and even on a cable channel here in the States. Lucille Ball was probably the best comediane besides Carol Burnett. I could watch either any time. They are funny without being crude, rude, and tattooed.
All great stuff.
I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore. ~ Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz.
Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night. Margo Channing (Bette Davis), All About Eve.
Slow curtain, the end. ~ Margo Channing (Bette Davis), All About Eve.
I’d list a few more, but I’m tired. So tired. Like Madeline Kahn in Blazing Saddles.
Thanks for the great thread.
One of the best lines in any western ever made.
I’m mad as hell, and I’m not gonna to take it anymore!...Network.
Keep the change ya filthy animal...Home alone (Probably more of a family thing tho:)
Go ahead punk, make my day...Eastwood
I am your father..Darth Vader
May the force be with you...Star Wars
She’s Starting to Damage My Calm...
Jayne, in Serenity
Already posted above by me. Thanks.
Love them both. We actually watched the colorized I Love Lucy episodes that CBS (or whichever) ran a few months ago.
One I think I’d seen (with William Holden), the other one I don’t think I’d ever seen (with George Reeves as Superman).
They held up pretty well, we had no desire to change the channel!
Those are good ones!
Right, that phrase has been used in so many situations and conversations. Like many others, it has become a standing joke.
“A man’s got to know his limitations.” Clint Eastwood.
“Heyyyyyy” (with both thumbs up iirc?) - The Fonz.
“The Devil Made me do it.” Flip Wilson (Laugh In)
“Veerrryy Interesting.” Arte Johnson (Laugh In)
I imagine Laugh In was much like Seinfeld in a way. Everyone would talk about it at the water cooler, and the various phrases from both sure caught on. Although I suppose the Laugh In quotes were memorable just because they were the standard gags and often repeated.
