Looks to me that what these folks really want is segregated schools.
They don’t seem to realize they’re teaching apartheid over ‘One America’.
Here in Connecticut, we've been saddled with the Sheff v. O'Neill decision to de-segregate urban schools .
Initially came "Project Concern" [1960s] .... busing black/Hispanic kids to suburban schools. Most of these kids faced long bus rides....and at the end of the day...went right back to their under performing ghetto environments. Many towns that volunteered for project concern regretted it, finding the bused kids were disruptive, had poor attendance, did poorly on standard testing.
Then came Sheff v. O'Neill, the start of magnet programs & *specialized/themed academies* as part of the state's court-ordered efforts to limit racial isolation in Hartford public schools. Millions of state/fed dollars flood in.
Then came the afro-centric academys & FUSE called Jumoke ...and the embezzlement by director Michael Sharpe.
FUSE, formed in 2012, never held board of directors’ meetings until after the public revelations in the spring of 2014 of Michael Sharpe’s felony record for embezzlement and falsification of his academic credentials. FUSE entered into contracts with the state to run two public schools without approval by its board. In fact, it is unclear that FUSE even had a board of directors then. Jumoke, too, played fast and loose with board meetings. Jumoke’s board gave Sharpe “unfettered control” over every aspect of the organization. Even after he left Jumoke for FUSE, Sharpe still ran Jumoke, leaving day-to-day operations to his nephew, an intern there.

This being Hartford, NO ONE is monitoring, oversight .....auditing the program [lest you be labeled "racist*] . Private, outside *consulting* firms come in and drain the coffers dry....no one knows where the $$$ [state and fed money ] is.
It continues to be a mess. A BIG mess. To blame white teachers is disingenuous at best....when the admin positions are filled with incompetent, stupid black administrators hired under *affirmative action*.
Parents, both B&Latino...want what the 'burbs have.....and they were handed it on a silver platter. But these parents lack the skills to make sure their kids are benefited by the programs. They want what they want when they want it. Gimmee mentality. They are rudderless. Vicious cycle.
