Once the Russians moved in, they probably let it be known that they had a deal to offer: surrender, and we let you live.

That’s how you run a war. You don’t run it with liberal college professors desperately trying to “understand” the enemy.

These surrenders are most likely not ISIS but rather the Kurds. ISIS doesn’t surrender and Asad also considers the Kurds as terrorists.
