If he seduced one of their daughters, that would be poetic justice...

When my oldest was at Baylor, she couldn’t get into the dorm as a Freshman, so was granted permission to live in an apartment. She was OK, but her roommate was a wild child.

I told her that, since I was within driving distance, I might show up (unannounced) at any time. I only had to do it once. As it happened, I encountered her walking down the street, and I pulled over and picked her up. We had a wonderful afternoon, and we sent shopping for a new dress for homecoming.

My other children took note and always expected either me, or my husband, to drop in for a surprise campus visit.

Once was enough, and it lasted through 4 kids. LOL.

Kirstin Powers is converting to the Catholic faith. Wow. Long journey for her, perhaps she will be conservative next.

I don’t know what to think of those affair rumors about McCarthy and Ellmers-maybe they are having one, or maybe there is just a friendship there that makes it ripe for speculation. Most of my friends are male-especially the close/best ones-and some people see something sexual in a male/female friendship even though nothing like that is going on.

But I didn’t like the idea of McCarthy as speaker-I’m glad he declined to run, affair or no affair...

Once worked for me, too-when she went to college, the cub was away from home for the first time at 18-we gave her the extra car to drive to and from her part-time waitress job.

All went well until the second semester, when her grades showed that her new major was partying, so we told her she would be transferring to the nearby UTSA and told her to pack and drive home-where she would be living again for the foreseeable future. She said I’m an adult-I’m 18 and I don’t have to do what you say-I have a job, and I want to continue school here.

As you did, my husband and I showed up unannounced at her dorm, told her to get her stuff together, and we’d go take care of the paperwork on the way out. When she started the I-can-do-what-I-please, her dad told her fine, hand me the keys to OUR car-and by the way, you will be responsible for your own expenses as long as you remain here. He got in her car, I got in the suburban, and we drove off, leaving her speechless.

Within two weeks, she was out of money, transportation and ideas, and sick of eating ramen noodles-we went and fetched her, she transferred to UTSA and lived at home-with her nightlife curtailed, grades went up again and there were no more problems-she moved to her own place after graduation.
