I’m a recent streaming person. Never had cable. Some things I’ve learned:

Virtually everything you could ever want is streamed for free or cheap. Roku has access to more channels than you can shake a stick at.

Local programming is available from Roku. Check out the channels which are legion, there are also “private” channels which are not advertised but accessible. Need to google those. Nowhere TV is a private channel with good content.

Almost all content providers, e.g. NASCAR offer some sort of streaming option ala carte.

YIP TV offers OANN and a few sport channels for free. Need to stream to laptop or tv directly.
