Ooh, the marxists have a new mantra: the religion of pot is the opiate of the masses.

Idiot company, unless they are fleeing taxes, liability, or unions. All they need is a "no substance use on property during company time" policy.
No smoking. No drinking. No pot use.
Wouldn't that allow them to fire at-will dope head employees? I mean if I came in drunk after lunch, they'd fire me in a heartbeat, let alone being stoned.

Because if marijuana is legal, would it become illegal to discriminate against those who use the drug; illegal to do drug testing for pot???? It depends on whether a state's law forbids testing or not. In states where it is legal, I'm not aware of any prohibition against employer tests.
Heck, there are more and more employers testing for tobacco these days.

There is
ALWAYS a cost to making unprecedented changes like this; the drugged-out left and libertarians just shove those considerations under the carpet, and pretend that there are no costs, just benefits.
What's sad is that we may not realize these costs until many years into the future, when the attitude is already ensconced, and a retreat to sanity is no longer achievable.

He is smart to leave a place that is losing qualified and productive employees.
It’s stupid to try making a business work with a ‘talent pool’ that is surging with unmotivated and unproductive employees.

That’s what he’s saying - he kept having to fire people and couldn’t replace them with pot free employees. I find this article fishy.

Or maybe the real story is he can hire them cheaper in SC. Because I’m pretty sure they have marijuana there too.

It's called PRE_EMPLOYMENT drug testing.
Don't hire potheads.

Pot smoking has always been overlooked. Heck, I worked for a big firm in NYC and I used to see all the mailroom guys wreathed in a cloud of smoke on the front steps when I went out for lunch. Needless to say, we had problems with misdelivered mail...but it was obviously ok with the bosses, who seemed to believe it was a cultural (black) thing.
Even when my son went to high school in CA in the late 80s, the kids were literally getting stoned in front of the school. If they’d been getting drunk they would have been arrested, suspended or whatever. But getting stoned is a liberal thing, so it didn’t matter that they came back after lunch, put their heads on the desk and ignored whatever was theoretically being taught.

Federalism at work. The rest of the country can thank Colorado for attracting the potheads. Too bad we couldn’t do the same with gay marriage and Obamacare thanks to the legislative activity of the SCOTUS.
