My grandmother moved to Chicago when Franz-Joseph was still Emperor of her home town. For some inexplicable reason, starting in the 20's, she always got season tickets to Wrigley Field.
In the 50's and 60's we'd take the Belmont Avenue bus, then on stop south on what was then the Englewood Line. She'd sit there, with a single cup of beer, and a cigar in a green jade holder, and study the game, focused like a Buddist monk. Only weekday games. (She thought cheering wasn't 'proper'.) Hey, she was a nutty Austrian lady.
It's been over a century. Please, just this once?

That is a GREAT story and for your Grandmother’s sake I guess Just This Once would be pretty okay!

I was also a White Sox fan years ago (Early Wynn, etc.), went away to college, the Navy, and got back to Champaign to finish college. I couldn’t get the Sox on radio but the Cubs came thru loud and clear. I morphed into a Cubs fan.
And I lived on the SW side.

Fowler, Bryant and Schwarber have been the difference on my fantasy team this year.
Dee Gordon and Carlos Correa too and Tuliwitski almost played a full season and had great numbers as well.
Abreu was really slow out of the gate but met expectations.
Hoping the Mets go all the way but Cubs are due.

I still think, however, that the Cubs from now on to be really successful contenders, they need to play far more night games at Wrigley Field--possibly as many as 50 games.
Former pitcher Curt Schilling surmises (correctly) the reason why: because the Cubs play most of their home games during the day, the biological clocks of the Cubs roster is different then other MLB teams. As such, once they reach the playoffs, the team ends up playing poorly when most of the games are in the evening hours.

The schedule will probably change, but it will almost certainly be gradual. There are still a lot of Cubs fans who believe lights are the tools of The Devil.

Nope, to forgive is devine. Best of luck to the Cubs, they deserve it.

Cubs owner Tom Ricketts already said once the Cubs complete most the renovations to Wrigley Field, the team wants to play a lot more night games there—probably half their home schedule. If they can pull that off, the Cubs will be far more successful in the playoffs, since the players will be more used to be night playing schedule given that most League Championship Series games and all World Series games will be played at night.
