Yes, looking at the entire quote in isolation, I can see how someone could call it innocuous. However, when you look at the quote in context with everything else he says (e.g. denigration of free markets, elevation of Islam, climate totalitarianism, homosexual support, pedophile scandal, etc.) it is clear that this man is a false prophet.

I agree...he just wasn’t saying the cross was a failure...

In other words, because the Pope is a Bad Man, every syllable and every sentence out of his mouth, no matter what it is, is blasphemy. If he recites the Nicene Creed, every word of it is blasphemy.

I think this is the worst Pope in 300 years, but anyone who insists that this particular statement was blasphemous is just being hysterical.
