This kid will get his butt handed to him if he decides to pursue engineering. I come from an engineering family and it’s an incredibly difficult degree to complete, as it should be. Heavy math, physics, chemistry, plus engineering courses. On top of that, the degree coursework is nationally standardized, so you can’t con your way through it. As smart as you think you are, it will bring you to your knees. Plus, the profs in these courses are not inclined to pass a student for affirmative action reasons. It’s pretty merciless.

I hope you are right. I know you are right about how things used to be, but with the dumbing down of America to make things “fair” and “equal” I don’t know. When I got my degree in accounting/finance, we had to actually learn and do the math. I have helped a few people with their business degrees, and they are just told what buttons to push on a calculator.

People are not educated to work in the real world where there is competition and things have to actually work. Then they wonder why some companies want to import skilled labor.
