why would I want to switch from 7 to 10 ?

I didn't want to leave 98SE

Windows 7 was a good upgrade. Windows 10 has problems. If you have multiple family members, they will get frustrated, as Windows 10 automatically logs onto the account of the last user. Then, it turns off numlock before asking for an entry PIN. There are no benefits to Win10, except to stay current with a free upgrade.

Win 10 probably gaining due to new computer sales that have Win 10 on them now. I do not intend to change from Win 7

Believe me, you DON'T want to switch from 7 to 10. My main desktop running 7 croaked, so I had to replace it. Unfortunately, the new Dell I purchased came with Windows 10 factory installed. The ONLY good thing about Windows 10 is that it is not Windows 8.

I am investigating whether this new machine is still "7" compatible. If yes, I will buy a "full-install" version of 7 on Ebay, and replace 10 with it.

I have yet to find ANY feature of "10" that is superior to "7".
