We spent (pun intended) three days there over Labor Day. Stayed at the Bellagio. First lunch there was $60 for soup, sandwich and a drink, so we started eating out after that. If you tried to store your own food in the room fridge, they charge you $50 per day.
Las Vegas still has what you go to Vegas for, just costs more. We saw Cirque du Soleil Beatles for $170 each. Was it worth it? Well it was an extravaganza, won’t forget it soon.
Two things surprised me: Lots of families with kids, at least at the Bellagio. And they still allow smoking in the casinos. Sometimes we were choking.
But overall, a good weeekend.
If I were starving to death, I'd walk out into the desert to let my bones bleach before paying $60 for soup and a sandwich.
Vegas is getting family friendly... We were there in March for the race...lots of families...
First day, they told me that was all they were designed to do, but they could have their maintenance man fix it. Up until that moment, I'd never heard of a brand name hotel that didn't have a functioning fridge.
Last spring when we stayed in Vegas just to catch the flight home, a budget Travelodge, $55 total for the night, including fridge, microwave and on-site coin laundry. The rooms were neat, clean, free so-so breakfast and airport shuttle by an older guy who was happy for a $2 tip.
And the monorail which took you around the strip (not a far walk from the Travelodge) for free is now $5. I don't know if that includes tips or not.
Don't care at all for smoking myself, but my philosophy is that smoking goes with gambling and drinking like fornicating goes with cat houses. Since I don't care for any of these activities, I avoid said places.
