The Invader in Chief has better optics. The Irvington school and PD “acted stupidly.” And now LEGITIMATE surveillance and caution will be compared to this foolishness.
And they really did act stupidly! You don't leave somebody with his hands cuffed behind his back alone, because if he falls he can't use his hands to break the fall. It's not advisable to interrogate a juvenile without somebody there.
IF we grant the school and the PD a little slack for wondering, “What could the worst case be?” by the same argument we have to rebuke them because they didn't ask what the OTHER worst case could be, the one where they were wrong and ended up giving another Muslim a reason to dislike the US.
