I've been struggling to figure out what line of attack will be used to try to take down Trump at tomorrow night's debate, and I think that they will all line up (other than Cruz, of course) trying to make the case that Trump is a liberal, based on both his past positions and some of his recent statements. The goal here, of course, is to try to instill doubts among us Trump supporters, as they understand the longer Trump stays on top, the harder it is going to be to topple him - either by swaying opinion, or rigging the convention. They likely have figured out that they can't goad him real-time into making a fool of himself in a debate format as he controlled himself well in the first debate - it was only outside of that debate that Trump has launched his real attacks that have gotten him all of the attention, so they wont waste their time trying to goad him again.
Furthermore, although it took 3 months of focus groups by Frank Luntz, I think word is finally trickling in to the GOP bosses that Americans are really fed up with Illegals and that attacking Trump from the left on Immigration only works to his advantage, and that trying to match him on Immigration, well, the other candidates simply aren't up to it (i.e., Scott Walker seeing the need to build a wall only on the Canadian border and taking 3 positions one Immigration issue in one week; Bush saying that Anchor Babies only come from China, etc.), or they just can't help lapsing back to their default positions of Open Borders (Walker secretly promising Big Money to support Amnesty, Carson now coming out for Amnesty and using Democrat talking points, Rubio unable to pull himself away from the Senate Amnesty Disaster that he helped orchestrate, etc).
So about all that is left is trying to attack Trump from the right on other issues and trip him up there, with the hope of getting a legendary Rick Perry type comment of people "having no heart" (when it comes to illegal immigration), or a Bush comment like illegal immigration is "an act of love". They'll try to goad him into saying something like that regarding something recent, like the gay marriage ruling from the Court, the Kentucky Court Clerk situation, etc. It seems to be one of the only hopes left for them, and hopefully Trump is ready for that.
I suspect that their long-term plan is the following: As we (hopefully, in their eyes) move away from Trump, they (the GOP bosses) will permit any of the other candidates to take his place for a period of time (even Cruz, for that matter). Right now, since Carson is up, they're trying to get us to move to him - as you can tell by all of the puff pieces coming out about Carson. But after a while, a few weeks, once they're sure they've severed our bond with Trump, Karl Rove will deploy his whiteboard on Meet the Press and that will be the end of Carson. Carson will have served his purpose.
After that, we're left with Rubio, Bush, and Walker, with Biden coasting to another easy Democrat victory. But the GOP bosses will still be THRILLED - they prevented Trump, a bull in a china shop to them, from totally decimating their scam, and they will retain their incomes and plush offices for another 4 years. Sure a GOP victory would be nice, but a Trump defeat is all that matters to them now.
Here’s the joke on the GOP. Nobody cares.
Trump shouldn’t show up at that debate.
Trump will just be bringing a large audience to bought and paid for politicians who will spew anti-Trump attack ads at that large audience brought there by Trump
Trump doesn’t need the publicity .The others do and they will grandstand and pander and lie
A Trump defeat is a victory for them. But it will be a Pyrrhic victory at best.
That’s a good plan.
None of Trump’s supporters really care that he’s not a Conservative. We know the professional “Conservatives” can’t be trusted
Saying Trump is a Liberal is not going to work, because most supporters would be saying well duh. The only any attack could work on Trump is to attack him on illegal immigration, which GOP won’t do because they’re on the wrong side
They’re happy he’s not a conservative because he is an outsider who buys liberals to do his bidding. With his superior intellect and huge bank account, no one needs to care what he knows, thinks, or values. If he’s lived his personal and public life as a liberal, why should anyone care. That’s old fashion.
This is going to be an extraordinary battle. Jeb Bush remains the king but there are going to be a lot of pawns surrounding him. The good news is, Bush and all of his pawns are a bunch of liars and losers and Trump can shred them with the truth. He better be prepared.
U.S. Politicians are all owned by foreign interests. Not Trump
This is why only Trump is the only one that says anything against China, Mexico ,Saudi Arabia etc.
Politicians are all owned by rich internationalist donors. Not Trump. Politicians are all looking to make a lot of money off of a long political career in Washington, Not Trump
Out of those running Trump is also the only one that says deport illegals and build a Wall
U.S. politicians have never done anything for America but they have destroyed America by growing government, bad trade deals and importing illegals and 3rd world immigrants
Recent examples include all US senators voting for the Corker bill which means giving Iran nukes, obama trade , etc.
I hope Trump gets the nomination .Then we will have justification to get your communist self zotted off this site
“Trump shouldnt show up at that debate.”
I agree. Whatever happened to his demand that CNN’s extra profits be donated to veteran groups?
So if Trump wins, you believe only Trump’s chumps will be allowed on FReeRepublic? Weird, man.
“None of Trumps supporters really care that hes not a Conservative. We know the professional Conservatives cant be trusted.”
Well stated, but Luntz has been so busy trying to figure out why wanting Secure Borders is a winning issue for Trump (LOL) that he hasn’t had any time to figure out just what we actually want...with that being Secure Borders NOW, the rest of our issues later.
9 minutes maximum of Trump speaking vs. 60 minutes of anti-TRump attack ads by the moderators and the bought and paid for politicians. Trump shouldn't show up at that debate. Why does he have to?
He needs me as an adviser . LOL .
I understand that but he has to show up and he has to kick a55. He doesn’t have the luxury of dragging Santa Anna all over Texas until the most opportune battle presents itself. The good news is, the 30% of the people that presently support him are not likely to waiver if he gets gang attacked by Jeb and Co.
Get out of the cult and think critically. He's not a savior. He's just a multi-billionaire trying to manipulate you into believing he has answers for the questions he won't answer now, he has plans that he won't reveal, and knowledge that he won't display. Come down off of the edge.
I was thinking the same thing or the 1st time petty personal crap starts or a loaded BS ? from Hewitt arrives just say,”Ya know what screw all of you I am out of here”!
