Be very interesting to know what % of those were previously running 8 or whichever system.

Good. More guinea pigs to work out the kinks before I upgrade.

Yes, Windows 8 was that bad LOL!

Another benefit is that the solitaire games are free again.

Have a slight Win 10 annoyance. If I click on any of the boxes on the start bar, they load for a few seconds then disappear. I click on them again and they load and run fine. What could be causing that? Also my Cortana becomes unreachable by any link, I have to go to the Task Manager and end task. It then works for a while but eventually goes away again.

I have been very positively impressed by the zippier performance of Win 10 on my home laptop and desktop, vs. 8 and 8.1, and see the only downside as the absence of privacy. I suggest you go to the 13 “Settings” screens and click NO on every data sharing choice! But they will still get all your passwords and data, so don’t store anything important on your PC.

It is free and basically self installs. Hides IE11 and gives you instead the Edge browser until you find out how to switch back as most have. It then spies on you and sells the information to anyone. You cannot make simple changes to the font, title bars, taskbar color or text color without registry edits and editing theme files.

Automatic installs probably accounts for 90% of that. My “windows 10 experience” thus far tells me that the only thing good about Windows 10 is that it is not Windows 8 (don’t know about 8.1, as I rolled back to Windows 7 after my first exposure to 8.0).

Unfortunately, my home desktop with “7” began to die (intermittent failure to boot....requiring a total (as in unplug it) hard reset), and I needed to replace it. Home Depot had some nice Dells on sale for Labor Day, which came with “10” pre-installed. I got all the programs and data moved over, and THAT machine turned out to be flaky. So I swapped it for another of the same model, and am now up and running.

Believe me.....Windows 10 and its new “apps” suck wind....badly!
