RE: Be very interesting to know what % of those were previously running 8 or whichever system.

I would make a guess that it is a HUGE chunk of the Windows 8 and 8.1 market moving to Windows 10.

When I went to Best Buy last week, I could NOT find a desk top computer that has Windows 10 installed other than two new models made by DELL.

Most of the other desktop computers still have Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 and the folks at Best Buy will tell you to just buy these if you don’t want the DELL machines, and then DOWNLOAD Windows 10 for free.

The only ones that have Windows 10 installed are mostly the laptops and tablet type devices.

I use Verizon wireless with a satellite connection. Pay for 5 GB per month so pay attention to use. Two months ago, the use went crazy, but I was doing nothing more than normal. A call to Verizon disclosed Microsoft had downloaded Window’s 10 onto my computer - at the cost to me of of $30 over my normal monthly Verizon bill.

Anyone want to guess if I will ever use Windows 10, or Microsoft period - If I could get ride of them, I would in a heartbeat.

Good. More guinea pigs to work out the kinks before I upgrade.

Yes, Windows 8 was that bad LOL!

Another benefit is that the solitaire games are free again.

Have a slight Win 10 annoyance. If I click on any of the boxes on the start bar, they load for a few seconds then disappear. I click on them again and they load and run fine. What could be causing that? Also my Cortana becomes unreachable by any link, I have to go to the Task Manager and end task. It then works for a while but eventually goes away again.

I have been very positively impressed by the zippier performance of Win 10 on my home laptop and desktop, vs. 8 and 8.1, and see the only downside as the absence of privacy. I suggest you go to the 13 “Settings” screens and click NO on every data sharing choice! But they will still get all your passwords and data, so don’t store anything important on your PC.

Using W8.1 and still have the GWX icon on taskbar.

How much longer do I have to wait to download 10?

I went to Windows Update and they had Win 10 available before I was notified.

Thanks for reply.

I even had updates today via WinUpdate - still no Win10.

Same waiting game on 2 laptops - Win8.1 and Win7.

I’m eager to test a software driver to insure compatibility with Win10 - wonder if others are still waiting?

It’s been about a month since Windows 10 launched, and the early reviews are mostly positive.

Microsoft Corp's launch of its first new operating system in almost three years, designed to work across laptops, desktop and smartphones, won mostly positive reviews for its user-friendly and feature-packed interface.

Most of the negative reviews I read relate to Microsoft being able to detect what you are doing.

Windows 10 is garbage. I downloaded it used it for a couple of weeks and went back to 7. Windows 10 does too many things I don’t authorize it to do.

It is free and basically self installs. Hides IE11 and gives you instead the Edge browser until you find out how to switch back as most have. It then spies on you and sells the information to anyone. You cannot make simple changes to the font, title bars, taskbar color or text color without registry edits and editing theme files.

#9 Right click on the Start button then type in this command.

sfc /scannow

I did an upgrade from windows 7 to Windows 10 on my laptop and I could not left click on the Start button to bring up the menu. I could after running that command which scans for missing or corrupt files. I later did a clean install by formatting the hard drive as I found other glitches and slowness which went away when I did a clean install. I use 10 on my laptop only to check it out. My desktop pc uses Windows 7. Go to http://www.stardock.com to get WindowBlinds and themes. I bet they will in the future have Windows 10 look for a theme.

Just click on the Get Windows 10 icon. It will either download it, (or start to install it, if already downloaded) or explain what it is about your system that PREVENTS going to Win 10, such as outdated DRIVERS.
