Why Scott Walker Won't Take A Position on the U.S. Accepting Refugees

As Europe grapples with the mass migration of more than 300,000 refugees fleeing war in Syria, Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker won’t say whether the United States should open its doors to absorb more of the migrants.

Walker’s reason for not taking a stand is that he says it would be hypothetical for him to do so since he is not currently the president.

“I'm not president today and I can't be president today,” the Republican presidential candidate and Wisconsin governor said when asked by ABC News during a press gaggle on Monday what he would to address the current refugee crisis if he were president currently. “Everybody wants to talk about hypotheticals; there is no such thing as a hypothetical.”

What is not hypothetical, Walker said, is that the next president needs to defeat ISIS, which he said is at “the core of the problem” of the current migrant crisis and has resulted from a failed foreign policy under President Obama.

“The core problem is under the Obama-Clinton doctrine America is leading from behind, that has empowered ISIS to take the territory they have in Iraq and continue to have the presence they have in Syria,” he said.

Walker last month laid out his foreign policy platform in a speech at the Citadel military college in South Carolina in which he called for immediately lifting the “political restrictions” on U.S. military personnel currently in Iraq, terminating the Iran nuclear deal, and establishing a no-fly zone in Syria as part of his strategy to confront ISIS.

When pressed for his position on the current refugee crisis, Walker said, “I'm talking about what I would do as president, that'll be a year and a half from now. I'm going to take on ISIS as president.”

Europe is pissing and moaning about 300,000 “refugees”. We have 20 to 40 million illegal alien “refugees” here in America and yet Obama and FOX News wants to ease the strain on Europe by bringing the Syrians here instead. Had enough of Obama yet? Elections do have consequences.

Because he’s more concerned with his position than his country?

As usual?

Walker’s reason for not taking a stand is that he says it would be hypothetical for him to do so since he is not currently the president.

Seems to me that if this is his philosophy he's gonna have a hard time getting voters to have an idea of what to expect from him.

True, Mr. Walker. And tomorrow is doubtful too. And every tomorrow for ~5 years.

Walker has done some very good work.
Crushed the unions time and again despite their typical thuggish personal threats and attacks.
Cleaned up the horrible economic condition the Marxist had made of the state of Wisconsin.
But not taking a position of a no-brainer issue like this looks very weak.

The reason he won’t take a position is the same reason all politicians won’t take a position: It may piss some group of people off. Well, dumb ass, that’s why Trump is so popular. He will take a position and if you don’t like it, go with some willy-nilly who left their spine at home.

What a WIMP! He’s clearly not ready for prime time at the national level. He wants to hide his views from the Republican base. He just may be an “Act of Love” kind of guy and that’s not what we’re wanting.

The US needs to provide these ‘refugees’ airlifts to Saudi Arabia.

“Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker won’t say whether the United States should open its doors to absorb more of the migrants. Walker’s reason for not taking a stand is that he says it would be hypothetical for him to do so since he is not currently the president.”

Well,in that case, I guess we can expect Mr. Walker to take no stand on ANY issue, because, guess what, since he’s NOT President NOW, ALL positions he might take are “hypothetical”.

What a worthless, spineless, jello-squishy weenie.

[Mr. Trump, thank you for being a fearless, undaunted alpha dog and smoking out the spineless, squishy, weenieness of the 16 dwarfs (Cruz excepting of course)].

Walker is a weak pathetic guy who has no business wasting other people’s money running for an office he is not competent for.

I agree, Scott Walker is a remarkable governor, I admire him very much but I do not think this is his time although I would like to see him run for president some day. He is still a young man. I don’t understand this bashing of Governor Walker at all.

Cripes, Walker should know better than this, he’s already collapsing in the polls. Ridiculous.
