I spoke about it yesterday....I'm a member of a sabbath keeping church.....outlined the case and talked about her commitment to what she believed and contrasted it with deputy clerk who said she was a preacher's daughter and it was the hardest thing she had ever had to do but that she would still comply with the law.
What would we do when it comes to our beliefs? Stand up and take the penalty or comply with something that goes against God's law?

I guess we are either the three Hebrew children in the fire or we’re Peter at the Crucifixion.

Yep. I was scheduled to deliver that sermon tonight, but one of our elders was sick so I delivered it this morning. Had I preached it tonight, those who needed it most wouldn’t have been there.

Well you’re probably right. It isn’t strictly politics. I’ve just gotten to the point that almost everything that is reported in the mainstream media is politics. I’m pretty sure pastors can’t recommend who to vote for, though. But you’re right. This was a moral thing. Anyway he didn’t mention it, at least when he was speaking in English.

The more our country is a mess, as my pastor said, the more we’ll need our church assembly.

You know, when a Muslim says they won’t work in a place that sells alcohol or pork, citing their religion, everyone bends over backward to get rid of all those “offensive” things.
To: Vision Thing
Nope. Pastor continued his series on Acts. No mention or discussion of it in my Sunday School.
That does NOT mean others weren’t discussing it in other Sunday School classes (there are 5 other adult classes), the hallways, or over coffee in the narthex.

You must be Catholic! (Just guessing).
I went to Catholic church growing up and the priests would do a lot of the mass in Latin. I never understood that. They could be reading from the Racing Form for all the congregation knew. But we just sat their with hands folded or kneeled down on those kick-down cushions until it was all over.

Its not illegal. Most churches don't want to give up the 30 pieces of silver they get in the form of tax exemptions but it is most definitely not illegal to talk about politics from the pulpit.
The seeds of the American revolution were sown by the colonial churches who spoke of freedom from tyranny and the need for self determination.
"It was Sunday morning early in the year 1776. In the church where Pastor Muhlenberg preached, it was a regular service for his congregation, but a quite different affair for Muhlenberg himself. Muhlenberg's text for the day was Ecclesiastes 3 where it explains, 'To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted...'"
"Coming to the end of his sermon, Peter Muhlenberg turned to his congregation and said, 'In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away.' As those assembled looked on, Pastor Muhlenberg declared, 'There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!' Muhlenberg then proceeded to remove his robes revealing, to the shock of his congregation, a military uniform."
"Marching to the back of the church he declared, 'Who among you is with me?' On that day 300 men from his church stood up and joined Peter Muhlenberg. They eventually became the 8th Virginia Brigade fighting for liberty."
"Frederick Muhlenberg, Peter's brother, was against Peter's level of involvement in the war. Peter responded to Frederick writing, 'I am a Clergyman it is true, but I am a member of the Society as well as the poorest Layman, and my Liberty is as dear to me as any man, shall I then sit still and enjoy myself at Home when the best Blood of the Covenant is spilling? ...So far am I from thinking that I act wrong, I am convinced it is my duty to do so and duly I owe to God and my country."
A Christian who isn't politically active is no Christian at all.

He said that the purpose of imprisoning her was to intimidate Christians - that giving proper witness from here on will become very tough.
That we may have to choose between staying true to the faith, or keeping a job or our freedom.
