While many neighbors shop a town or two to the north (much “whiter”), I’ll still shop at the local supermarket - at 6 am. Never had a problem, and any Newark residents there at that time are just like me: Getting some shopping done before heading off to work.

6:00am. Good time to do your shopping. Most of the troublemakers are still sleeping off their Thunderbird.

I’ve done it for years, and never had a problem. The black workers have been there as long as the white workers (they all do a good job), and the black shoppers at that time are hard-working people like the rest of us. I’ve made it clear to my wife that I will never go there (or to our Wal-Mart) after 8 am (though I may have to modify that with our Wal-Mart no longer being open 24 hours).
