Remember when MTV used to play interesting and creative music videos?
That was a long time ago.
Too much fighting on the dance floor?
RIP.
Old headline from The Onion:
“Ska Band Members Outnumber Audience”
You know growing up in the UK in the early 1980s “Ghost Town” seemed so evocative of the way the country was going, everything was doom and gloom and the whole country was going to hell in a handbasket.
Remarkable to think that within a few short years Britain was boom town and many people including no doubt the members of The Specials were getting very rich indeed.
Oddly enough they never wrote a song congratulating Maggie Thatcher “This town is coming like a boom town”.
Still, it was great music and provided great memories.
RIP Rico.
The only Ska song about Thatcher I knew of was The English Beat's "Stand Down, Margaret."
I’ll light a candle, place it by my Specials poster, and drink a shot. Give me 45 minutes to get home.
RIP.
