Hillary's Server Wipe Has Done Incalculable Damage to U.S. Counter-Intelligence
American Thinker ^ | 9/5/2015 | Thomas Lifson

Hillary Clinton’s decision to wipe clean her email server has already done enormous damage to US intelligence efforts. The logic is so clear and compelling that it is amazing to me that only now, and only via an email to the blog Powerline, has the extent of her reckless (at best) action become clear. Scott Johnson passes along this, from reader he terms “knowledgable”:

I saw your note on Clinton emails. You and everyone else are missing the real problem and scandal. It is not the emails she saved and turned over to the State Department. It is the erased server, but not for the reasons most people are talking about.

A Secretary of State has broad SCI clearances which means she has access to sources and methods. We know now that HC had classified information on her email server because of what she turned over. What we don’t know is what she didn’t turn over. This creates a massive Counter-Intelligence (CI) problem.

The CI community knows she managed to jump the “air gap” on some information but because she erased the server they do not know the full extend of the jump. If she had turned over the server to the proper authorities the CI community could calibrate the extent of the potential damage. Now, barring a recovery of server data, they cannot. This means that CI has to treat all sources and methods to which the Secretary of State (and others potentially) was exposed as compromised.

Its even worse. By not turning over the server she prevented a forensic examine from determining if she was hacked and by what methods. She undermined any ability to exploit that knowledge to limit damage to U.S. National Security or to undermine and prevent a future use of similar hacking tools.

It stuns me how they actually try to defend her actions as not being criminal acts. They actually believe that Conservatives are just trying to take her down with no cause.

Tom, I wish your article meant something. You had a file deadline and you filed. Good for you.

She did it, but no one has the guts to indict her.

It’s that simple.

The Conservative Treehouse has a great thesis by Sundance on what’s coming against Trump and Hillary by the Establishment. A heck of a political war prognosis, us against the Estab.

Sorry I can’t post it.

Spread it all over the net. Hopefully Trump, Cruz or someone else will bring it up. And let us not forget the Obama adminstration. What have they done once this catstrophe was evident? Nothing (of course).

Meanwhile, on a lighter note than the destruction of our national-security system, Obama and his Justice Department have done incalculable damage to the Democratic party by choosing to attack Hillary NOW, when she is the only viable candidate for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.

We should be dancing in the streets.

None of them care. They are so convinced they are right about everything, that no amount of sociopathic wrongdoing can ever be unjustified.

I think it's worse than that. They are convinced that it's "not fair" that we possess the most powerful tools in the world to defend ourselves, and it's therefore OK that Hillary has compromised our counterintelligence apparatus - it levels the playing field, don-cha-know...

Lock her up right next to the rest of the criminals who exposed or destroyed top secret information illegally.

This is an opportunity for trump to have a news conference with retired national security professionals. Especially if he can find a couple from the Clinton time. Destroy Hillary now!

I do not know how many times I have to say it: Unless the hard drives in that server were incinerated into ashes then the data is recoverable.

You and everyone else are missing the real problem and scandal

The "real problem" has ZERO to do with classified information and CI.

The "real problem" is WHY the Clintons took such risks, facially breaking the law, to protect their communications.

The "real answer" is to cover up the transactions of the bribery/money laundering/tax evasion conspiracy known as the Clinton Foundation/Global Initiative.

There is absolutely no evidence that her server was wiped by anyone with the technical skills to do it. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t.

Can a Microsoft Exchange server be ‘wiped’ by:

1. Deleting all the emails using the application interface.

2. Deleting all the emails, and then running the Exchange utility to recover the freespace.

3. Uninstalling Microsoft Exchange.

4. Uninstalling Microsoft Exchange, and then reinstalling the operating system.

5. Uninstalling Microsoft Exchange, formatting the C: drive, and then reinstalling the operating system.

If you said no to all, then you understand how things really work. The FBI is checking the server right now to see what was actually done.
