He's seeking the GOP nomination for president and he claims he's a conservative, it's his job to know if he wants to be taken seriously.

ANYBODY, and I do mean anybody, can get up and promise to build a wall if elected. It doesn't take a genius to know that this is a talking point that will go over well with conservatives. A real conservative knows that this thing is a package deal. There have been exactly two times in American history when a single issue was all that really mattered: the Civil War and World War II.

Conservatives have known about this woman's battle for some time now, just about every other GOP candidate immediately made a statement. Trump saying he doesn't know enough about it sounds an awful lot like, "That's above my paygrade."
