I’m with you. I cannot for the life of me understand how so many conservatives are supporting Trump. Rush talks about people like me like we’re the establishment people. I could not be more anti-establishment, but I’m being lumped in with them by my favorite talk show host. And then I come to FR and see almost everyone here supporting him. I feel like I’m in the twilight zone. PLEASE clue me in, everyone! I feel like I’m missing something obvious here.
It’s real simple.
The GOP and all of their candidates are trash and don’t give a flying f*** about America or Americans.
You are missing something obvious. It’s a charade every four years that we seek out the most conservative candidate, have him lose to a wish washy moderate GOPe for the nomination, and then vote lesser of the evils for President. It’s a sham wow, without any wow.
Here is someone, it almost doesn’t matter what letter he has by his name, but it happens to be an R, who is rich enough to be unbeholden to special interests, outspoken, loves this country, and is clearly willing to take on the two headed cabal that is both parties full of Washington elites, and their vicious controlling media.
We were looking at a limp Jeb or the like running against Hillary or worse. WHAT DID WE HAVE TO LOSE when Trump showed up and wet the panties of our enemies on both sides of the aisle and every TV and news station? He is our hope to break up this ruling oligarchy, and the more scared and hateful they get, they prove how right we were about them.
It is hard for some conservatives to realize their traditional two year discussion on who is more conservative has become a non sequitur, but it has. The correct discussion now is, who can free us from an oligarchy that has denied us our constitutional rights, and is swiftly turning the country into a third world wasteland?

Lets say you are on a boat lost at sea for serveral days. Your fellow passengers are Romney McCain Bush and Trump.
Romney McCain and Bush promise you that when you get back to land they will make you a juicy streak.
Meanwhile Trump is cooking up a chicken for dinner.
Romney McCain and Bush say, that’s not a steak it’s only a chicken!
For the last 3 days Romney McCain and Bush have been promising you steak but that is all they have.
Only Trump had actual food.
Cruz had steak but unfortunately his boat got lost in another direction.
Then you recall the last time Romney McCain and Bush had a cook out. They promised big juicy steaks but they came up with some lame excuse why there was no steak.
Something about Boehner or McConnell was suppose to pick up the steaks.
I think there are plenty here that are skeptical, dubious or downright against Trump, but are holding their fire because he is at least attacking Liberals. Juan MacClaim, Mittens, and Senior Jeb are very vocal about their opposition to conservatives and have drown a lot of flack from Freepers.
Soon enough, once the media figures out they can't push Trump out as easily as they thought; they will call on him to denounce Rush Limbaugh and the Radical wing of the party if he want’s to have a serious campaign. Then things will get interesting.
At the end of the day. It's still Cruz or lose.
Rush is not supporting Trump. He never supports in the primary. It’s not his fault that Trump has a habit of capturing the imagination of people - he’s funny and quick on the draw and does fun press conferences. Since Rush is in a business that requires some entertainment, it is natural that he would enjoy the Trump show. I mean, does anyone really want to listen to full a Carly Fiorina press conferences?
And I certainly don’t think Rush is denigrating people like you who do not admire The Donald. I’ve never heard him express anything like that.

Tactics.Same reason you promote candidate x instead of just writing in your own name on the primary ballot. Even tho there is inevitably some issue or nuance which separates your opinion from that of candidate x.
Basically Trump is “not Bush” at this point. I solemnly assure you that initially I was appalled to learn that Trump was running. Thus, Trump’s negatives were stratospheric at that point, for I was not alone. But what has been the effect of Trump’s candidacy?
Look, I’m morally certain that Trump will gore my ox sometime. But, we can choose when to take offense - and we can be sure not to take offense until the JEB (and/or Romney) campaign is moribund.
- the wide open border is a serious issue. JEB denies it, but it is so - because, Trump.
- JEB’s poll numbers have tanked in tandem with the rise of Trump’s.
- Trump is functioning as a tar baby which neither JEB nor the MSM can resist kicking - and, having kicked, look again and Trump is yet stronger. JEB wants to win the nomination despite us, and he is getting his just deserts at every turn of the wheel.
Would Trump be a poor POTUS? Probably. But let’s not let “better” be the enemy of “good enough.” Otherwise, best we can hope for is JEB. And JEB could easily lose to Hillary. But I don’t really think Hillary would fare any better playing “kick the tar baby” with Trump any more than JEB is doing.
I love Trump because I see him as payback.
I really luv Trump when I see Jeb and/or Karl Rove....or Mitch McConnell or John Boehner.

Most of all, I think Trump will ...more than any other candidate...try to undo a lot of what Obama has done.

I want a winner who will do something. A person who cannot win will be unable to do a damn thing.
Totally weary of being ignored by John McCain, Willard, Reince Priebus, Mitch McConnell, John Barleycorn Boehner, the RNC and by being crapped all over by each and every one during the Obozo fascist ascendancy, they will take any old leftist POS in GOP drag who talks dirty, talks nasty, is boorishly rude and gives them attention on the border almighty.
This is what happens when all the GOP cares about is fattening corporate bottom lines. They appear to have decided that Willard's manners were the problem. And this on a day when a decent Christian woman was jailed by a federal black-robed tyrant named Bunning for faithfully following the Scriptures. The Rump was asked about her at his press conference, and, of course, dodged the question and claimed no knowledge.
No where near everyone on Free Republic is supporting him. It is a very vocal minority of sTRumpettes that is spamming as many threads as they can. Yes there are quite a few that are not sure about him, but more of us realize that he is the consummate RINO.
