Dramatic audio reveals the tense moment when Illinois police officers discovered the body of a fellow Fox Lake cop lying in a marsh on Tuesday morning, stripped of his gun.
“Send everybody you possibly can,” an unidentified police officer says. “Officer is down.”
Police are appealing to the public for help as they widen the perimeter in the search for the killers of 30-year veteran Lt. Charles Joseph “Joe” Gliniewicz, 52. There are few specifics as to who exactly authorities are searching for, however, as the manhunt enters its second day.
Two white males and one black male have been identified as suspects in the death.
Gliniewicz was shot at approximately 8 a.m. local time Tuesday after he radioed in to tell dispatchers he was chasing three men on foot in Fox Lake. The officer did not make contact with the individuals as a result of a 911 call, but rather he "self-responded," according to Lake County Major Crimes Task Force....

Were these Muslims/terrorist he stumbled upon? Did the suspects have a score to settle with this specific cop? We are not getting much from the folks in Illinois. What about dash cams, body cams and the victims audio to dispatch?
Now I find on day two, even some reporters are speculating this is starting to sound a bit fishy.

They just played some audio from Gliniewicz on the news (channel 7, Chicago). Pretty much what we already know. One interesting thing someone from the PD said was that Gliniewisz would often drive through town before his shift started just to check things out. That’s what he was doing yesterday.
Also, abc7 just reported considerable police activity near the town of Volo, five miles from Fox Lake. Someone was spotted in a field. No other details.
If you can find that audio link I would like to hear it. Was it Gliniewicz initial audio transmission to dispatch regarding the suspect?. Thanks!
This happened in a small suburb at 8:00 in the morning. Pure speculation, but a cop stumbling upon a meth lab/camp makes just as much sense as anything else I have heard.
Could be, but I’d guess they would have found a lab of evidence of it close by.
I am starting to wonder if they have any ID on these guys at all besides 2 male whites and a male black. Seems odd, generally when an officer sees something suspicious he’s going to investigate, he radios dispatch a bit more details. Like suspects approximate ages, height, brief clothing descriptions etc. Especially if no vehicle is involved. If a vehicle is involved, they’ll generally call in the plate#, color etc prior walking up or approaching the suspect vehicle. It’s for the cops own safety. It seems this happened quickly according to time stamps from radio chatter.
Not a word about dash-cams or body-cams. He could have been taken at gun point into the swampy treeline then shot..Don’t know.
Lots of questions.
It is odd that they have not publicly identified any suspects. After 36 hours you would think they would have some idea who they are after.
Hitting the hay now but will look in the morning. What I heard was him saying to the dispatcher that he was in pursuit of the suspects and gave their descriptions. The dispatcher asked if he wanted backup and he said to “start someone.”

I imagine there are quite a few white and black guys in Illinois. Unless they know who these guys are and are not saying so publicly. If not, I don’t know how they would know who they’re attempting to capture.

Authorities investigating possibility of suicide in death of Ill. police officer
I had hunch from the beginning something was odd with this case. There were way too many unanswered questions and conflicting statements from the cops here. It seems increasingly likely my suspensions were possibly correct.
