Pittbulls have a checkered history. They are the combination of an English bulldog, (strength), and a rat terrior, (tenacity). They were bred to fight.

In the early 1900s, pitbulls were known as “nurse dogs” because they were so protective and good with children. Petey, the dog in “The Little Rascals” was a pittbull.

The only downside I see to having a pitbull, is that if you get a bad one, and all breeds produce mean individuals, those dogs can kill you.
