I keep seeing this statement. There is zero logic or reason to it. Trump is in the lead. Out of a field of 17 candidates, he's far ahead of all of them to include the GOPe golden boy Jeb. Yet he should drop out of the Republican party and go Independent? Now? For what reason?
Fair questions.
It is my understanding that Rove, Prebus, and the rest of the RNC/GOPe hold the final cards when the primaries roll around, regardless of their popularity. It’s pretty clear that not only is Bush the chosen one to run against the Dem, but they want Trump gone; eliminated.
I am going on this assumption and some history of what the RNC does to those they don’t like. New Jersey, Delaware, Mississippi come to mind.
In addition, to do it now give Trump and whomever the time to either develop the necessary infrastructure for a national campaign or piggyback on an existing one (such as what Ted Cruz may already have).
In the interest of full disclosure, almost nobody I know or have heard from agrees with my assessment. But for the above reasons I think it’s the only way to get it done.
Anyway, that’s my reasoning.
