Do You Trust The liberal CNN/ORC polling outfit? How about Rasmussen, ABC News/WaPo or NBC News/WSJ?

Yes things sure have changed. I feel like I am on DU sometimes.

People here now love CNN and MSNBC and hate Fox.
They no longer support the most conservative candidate. They support the loudest buffoon.
They no longer fear a Hillary presidency, They are ok if a candidate runs Third Party and ushers her in office.

I have even seen people side against Reagan in Trump vs Reagan discussions.

SMH. I am conservative both fiscally and socially and I won’t sell out for any two-bit clown who talks a good game but has no conservative record to speak of.

Yes, I am called for a pole all the time. I never answer unless I want to hear how the pole is being conducted. But that is very rare. I hang up on the 199 out of 200 times.

Odd. Last week you were citing CNN when you (wrongly) claimed Trump had peaked and was on his way down. Except you had confused a national poll with an Iowa poll. Oops.

Now you don’t like CNN because you think the lefty journalists are somehow playing with the spreadsheets.

Exactly. Career politician bots are trying hard to discredit Trump. This is the latest attempt.

Fine with me and when Silver’s crystal gets clouded and he falls on his face I’ll ping you about it.

Not exactly.

There were polls that showed Obama and Romney tied, polls that showed Romney ahead and polls that showed Obama ahead right up until the election.

To me, the one that I paid attention to was 538/Nate Silver’s attention being focused on Romney’s negatives, which were at 51% a little while before Romney was nominated.

Does it trouble anyone that Trump’s negatives are higher than this?

Most places The Donald is close to 2-1 over his no 2 rival usually Jebby or Doc Carson.

I remember one election where Zogby nailed the 1996 presidential election (he came within a tenth of a point of the actual results). He also was the only pollster to predict the closeness of the 2000 election.

For reasons I’m not sufficiently interested in to dig into, the recent golden polling boy Nate Silver nonetheless called Zogby the “Worst Pollster in the World.”

I guess my point is that it is hard to get excited or defensive when people bash practitioners of an art that is so difficult to consistently get right. If it is so easy, let the bashers do it and report back to us.

The problem is that ALL the pollsters are having trouble adapting to a world where people don’t automatically answer their phones, and phone technology has changed. Following their bad performance in the 2014 midterms, Nate Silver wrote that pollsters are going to have to develop new methods.

Personally, I gave up on replying to polls (and various Census Inquiries) decades ago. It is much easier now with answering machines and caller ID though!

Polls are lake statistics, you can make ‘em say what you like by using select data & questionable technique.

Do you agree, like most Americans, "Anchor Baby" is an insensitive racial slur by racist?

Most people do not fully understand polling.

When several polls over a period of time say more or less the same thing, it is solid.

The GOP is less than 1/2 of the population, say 45% including leaners.

So when they say Trump has 30% it means he has 0.3 x .45 = 13.5% of potential voters selected him in polls. Not the end of the campaign.

The media are in the business of entertainment. When they entertain, people applaud. Trump’s people applaud loudly.

Don’t mistake volume for headcount. People in the 13.5% hanging out together, doing high-fives all day and night is not the end of the campaign.

Right now I would bet on a democrat winning.

Maybe it’s because those same polls show Hillary’s poll numbers
crumbling.

Or do you believe these polls are inaccurate on Hillary’s numbers, as well?

I think you’d find every the vast majority of Trump supporters support Ted Cruz or Ben Carson even more, but are merely cheering Trump along.

From the friendship that has grown around Trump, Cruz, and Carson (and virtually around none of the others with Trump), it seems these three are happy to be working together, positively influencing each other.

My wife and I support Cruz, Carson, and Trump, but have only given to Cruz. Trump is leading the charge on key conservative views that Cruz and Carson haven’t been able to push as well. In fact, Cruz wants to increase by 500% the number of legal immigrants here, which Trump completely opposes.

We live in interesting times.

In 2012, they got 49 of 50 states correct.
With all of the early voting I do not believe they are perfect. I look at the trend of all the polls more than a number. If all the polls show a lead, well that candidate is leading. If by 2 or 5 or 10%, I really ignore that. Voter enthusiasm. Voter turnout is more important than the poll results.

It has become ridiculous that our politicians have become so poll based. I have never been polled and I don’t know anyone that has been.

Polls make our politicians nothing but knee jerk reactionaries without ever thinking through the situation first. In other words, they have become phonies.
