Like these Texans have already made shelters for just this event?

I’m sure the EPA is outraged.

I am in Dallas and I have heard nothing of this. That is weird.

It was a three alarm fire and the word “chemical” is in the company’s name. That makes it a big deal locally. But stations in Dallas probably figured it wasn’t a big deal to Dallas.

turn off their air conditioners
It was 97° nearby at 7 pm. Many would rather breath the fumes.

Several of our areas are right in the middle of oil and petrochemical plants. It’s the nature of the beast when you live down here. The need to shelter in place is just something we learn to do, like evacuating for hurricanes. Turn off the air, close any windows and don’t go outside. After a while an alarm sounds and we go on about our lives.
The explosion today was not all that big, occurred late in the workday with the weekend coming up, no loss of life and no other plans right next to it. Just feel sorry for the firefighters having to be out there with all that gear on in our heat.

in willis, the next town north of Conroe. It was drilling related and a lot of drilling companies especially those involved in fracking. NOV in willis is closing shop laying off 150 which are big numbers and good paying jobs in a small town of 6000.

In this area it would often be full of water.

Oh check, they likely caused it...they hated Texas after all, except Austin.
