DETROIT, MI - Engines are roaring, cool cars are cruising and people from Ortonville to Sterling Heights and beyond are already lining Woodward Avenue for Saturday's 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise, billed as the world's largest one-day auto event.

Some people are coming just for a few hours at a time to see the sights and sounds, others are even selling their own cruisers.

Vinnie Garafalo has his 1967 Ford Galaxie convertible parked along Woodward near a gas station in Royal Oak, where he and a group of others known as the "No Name Car Club" are taking in the scene.

Garafalo has taken the Galaxie to the last two Dream Cruises, though he may not be taking it to a third.

"I'm selling it for $14,500," he said Wednesday afternoon. He said he just rebuilt the engine, a V-8 390 Thunderbird motor which now has about 3,000 miles on it. Garafalo said he also recently put in a new transmission, new brakes, new drums and new wheel cylinders.

His Galaxie joins several other cars spotted along the route with "for sale" signs on them."

So, if he sells it, does he plan to get another car?

"Don't laugh. I want to buy a brand-new Mustang convertible," he said.

Dave Brock, of Ortonville, has a 1979 Chevy Corvette, though it's not for sale and he opted not to bring it to the Dream Cruise.

"I used to bring my Corvette but I've had a couple close calls here," he said of the potential damage that comes with some 40,000 cars descending on the Woodward corridor.

Brock and Garafalo were among dozens of spectators – 1.5 million people are expected Saturday – that were already out Wednesday with lawn chairs to take in the atmosphere.

"This always draws me," Brock said. "I've been to every Dream Cruise except the first one because I didn't know about it."

The Dream Cruise began as a small fundraiser in 1995 that attracted about 250,000 people.

The 2015 Dream Cruise is Saturday, but a full slate of events has been planned throughout the week, much of which can be found here: 2015 Guide to the Woodward Dream Cruise.
