The One never accomplished anything—Donald Trump has.
My two cents (as if anyone cares):
Trump is serving two purposes - he’s getting dialogue started that othewise would have been swept away (border situation is prime example) and he’s taking enemy fire while Cruz continues to raise money
I haven’t heard much to impress me about his “conservative” principles, and he has said some troubling things (continue to fund PP, single payor healthcare like Canada, blah blah blah), however, with the flak he’s taking from the GOPe RINOs, it makes me think he’s really over the target & for that reason I will support him as long as possible.
He also doesn’t need to take money from special interest groups, and I am of the firm belief that PAC funds & lobbyists must be neutered. They’re essentially powerless against Trump, which is a very good thing.
Just my thoughts. I really wish FReepers would stop trashing this guy and fighting with each other. We need to reform the GOP or destroy it. This guy is just what we need to get that accomplished.
Establishment hacks are losing their minds. They simply cannot accept the fact that one of their trained seals may not get the nomination.
Hope you have your asbestos underwear on. The Trump hate brigade is going to hate that statement.
“You really think Trump cares a whit about PP. He is just heading off the avalanche of war against women screams that will emanate from the media (with the help of come conservative outlets) if he comes out too hard against it.”
Somebody besides me has a clue. :-)
You can always tell a Bush sock pocket by the language they use. It's worked well over the years, but they just cannot seem to realize the formula is no longer effective. Here are some standard stock phrases that immediately reveal their position:
- adults in charge
- taking issues seriously
- let cooler heads prevail
- do we really want to bring the system down?
- broader leadership goals
- reach across the aisle
- I stand with my colleagues
- etc, etc, etc
What's most revealing, however, is just how stupid the media/DC cartel really is; truly bottom-of-the-barrel talent. It's why they were attracted to easy street in the first place, instead of getting out there and working hard to develop useful and productive goods & services.
Which one what? If the GOP does not return to its conservative base (doubtful) then it needs to go away. What we have is a uniparty, no? It’s time to end it. Reform, or die, GOP. I will not support the establishment any more. I’m done holding my nose and voting for “their” candidate....the lesser of two evils. For goodness’ sake, the last time they gave us the father of Romneycare, Obamacare’s prototype. Who the hell wants that?? I’m tired of my two choices being Democrat or Democrat-Lite.
I have noticed that Trump likes to hedge some of his remarks and I think it is a good thing the way he does it. He is just sufficiently vague to swat away the libs. He has been around the block a few times and knows how the game is played. Living in New York and being on television he is surrounded by libs and has to handle them with discretion.
He may not be the perfect conservative but I believe that his instincts are more conservative than not and he has probably matured with time especially as he is the father of several children, he is invested in the future of the country. He sees the corruption of the country being at the epicenter of corruption that is New York.
Besides Trump doesn’t come across as a stiff like so many Republican candidates. He actually has a pulse. :^}
Isn’t that cute, the GOPe still thinks it’s all a mistake on our part and if they just explain harder they will win!
No way Bush wins.
And, Elizabeth Warren will be the Dem nominee. That’s my prediction anyway.
I believe in the past Trump may have dabbled in politics as a form of self-promotion.
I sense this time it’s different. I believe he loves this country and sees where it’s headed. I may question some of his solutions, but I don’t question his motivation for running.
I think, if Hillary bombs out, it will be Biden. The sitting VP is always the “safe choice”.
Ditto that knarfy.
You just scared the crap out of me.
The Trump direct hit didn’t work and backfired. Now it’s time to shame everyone who supports Trump or even just is considering voting for him. No sense in being upfront about who you stand for (not you of course) and why he deserves your vote. Easier to use the Leftist tactic of demonizing folks.
Every single Trump supporter I personally know is either conservative or libertarian, intelligent, informed, hates Obama’s presidency, and cares about our country. Frankly it sickens me to see them getting treated like crap by so called conservatives.
That is my take on him too.
His supporters are the ones who do the attacking
