Free Republic requires reading. It’s reading-intensive. That’s the way most of us like it and want it to remain forever. Most people out there in the 21st century don’t want to read, except maybe a headline or a Facebook post accompanied by a picture. Smart people who like to read and think will love Free Republic. The headline-with-photo people just never will. I’m sorry for them, but that’s the pure truth of our era.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I run into people all the time who won't even bother reading a paragraph of anything. Just a photo and caption for them weather it be on the net or in a printed publication.

I run into people all the time who won't even bother reading a paragraph of anything. Just a photo and caption for them weather it be on the net or in a printed publication.

A frequent feature of the comments on this and other forums is, "Did you even READ the article?" when people ask dumb questions already fully answered in the text.

Another of my pet peeves is people asking for facts or definitions that they could easily google, and thereby avoid holding up the conversation expecting to have their needs met by others on the thread.
