I grew up in central West Virginia, born in 1947. While my sister and I were well-behaved most of the time, there were times when we apparently pushed our Mom to the limit.

During those times, Mom would exclaim, "I swear you two kids are going to send me to Weston". This was a popular(at least in our happy little family)expression growing up in the 1950s.

Today, perhaps due to the ease of getting someone involuntarily committed in the past, the law in West Virginia goes out of its way to protect the rights(pronounced 'raghts' where I grew up)of folks who otherwise would have been locked up a long time ago.

Nothing to do with asylums (not yet anyway!), but we were all sitting down to dinner and the kids had been arguing and my wife yelled out “I've had it up to HERE!! One more thing and my head is going to explode!!!!”

It went silent.

Then my one daughter exclaimed “Oh! Dinner AND a show!”

Even more silent as we all turned to look at mom.

Until mom started laughing hysterically. (Whew!) Or - maybe that WAS the sign to call the guys in the white suits.
