Yeah, and they claim that the new hybrids don’t cause blindness anymore, but that remains to be seen.

Canola oil is oil from oilseed plants (mustard family). It's rapeseed oil. For some mysterious reason the marketing association for Canadian farmers didn't like the name "rapeseed oil" hence the new name "canola".
