I used to watch my daddy and his brothers skin
two rabbits at once, They would field dress them
then when they got back home they would slit the
legs and around the neck, then stand on the skin
with bent knees, straighten up and it was all done.
I’m not that good, got plenty bunnies around my house
may have rabbit this winter.
Oh, and my dad always made his traps out of hollow
logs, said no sane rabbit would go in a box trap but
they’d go in a old log in a heartbeat.
Miss you dad, I know you are watching, we are doing
our best to take care of ma.
All his generation, brothers and sisters are gone now
